ABOUT ME
I have worked with children and young people for many years.
I was a secondary school teacher before having my own children who are now grown up. I taught young people of various ages after my children went to school. I have also tutored home-educated children and run a youth club for teens.
Since training to be a counsellor, I have worked therapeutically in primary and secondary schools for part of each week for eight years.
I like young people and get on well with them. I believe they always have a reason for their behaviour and know best what is bothering them. For this reason, I work in a person-centred way following their lead. However, I also make more directive interventions (with their agreement) because I realise they won't want to hang around in therapy longer than is necessary – they have a life to lead out there and need to get on with it!
I have a current enhanced disclosure from the CRB.
As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to their Professional Conduct Procedure
