WHAT IS PLAY THERAPY?

Play is how your child normally explores the world and makes sense of what happens. Play allows them to work out normal feelings and difficulties using toys and art materials by themselves. They do this all the time at home.

But some children experience acute distress or trauma when difficult things happen to them. They may be unable to cope with home life or school while this is affecting them. In these cases, play therapy with an experienced, well-trained therapist can help sort things out.

I aim to establish a warm, respectful and friendly rapport with your child, working at the child's pace, on whatever topic they choose, using their choice of toys and art materials.

I encourage them to explore their feelings and thoughts, and use what I

hear and see to help me address their problems as they talk and play

whether this is using puppets, playing out stories in the sand tray or

drawing pictures.
