WHAT TO EXPECT

Occasionally, behaviour at home deteriorates briefly as your child or young person accesses difficult feelings. But in general, progress is visible and therapy produces real and lasting change for the better, although obviously no guarantees can be given at the outset. However, I check in with the parent or carer each week to discuss how things are going.

I do maintain some confidentiality over the exact content of your child's play, although I will share themes and concerns. Without this, your child may not be free to express him or herself freely. But I also offer support to you at any time while your child is in therapy, because you know your child best. Working together in this way usually means that your child will soon show improvement.

We will discuss the issue of confidentiality at our first meeting. This is especially important in relation to older young people, who can expect a greater degree of confidentiality in their therapy.

I will also share with you any other/alternative sources of help that are available before you make any decision about therapy.
